MEET SEN. HALPERN
It is my honor to represent you in the Georgia State Senate.
With a background that includes business and community service, I have seen firsthand the impact of bad public policy. Time and time again, I have found myself putting in the work around issues of access, equity and opportunity.
As your State Senator, I care deeply about making sure that everyone in my district and across the state of Georgia can have a better life.
Better education. Better healthcare access. Better economic opportunities.
In Georgia - a place with so much to offer and a history of setting powerful examples for the rest of the country - we can and must do better.
I am committed to finding real solutions to the problems we face. Thank you for trusting me to be your voice under the Gold Dome.
Senator Sonya Halpern
Georgia Senate District 39

Watching my kids step into their civic responsibility will never grow old. A reminder that democracy is not abstract. It is personal. It is generational. And it only works when we participate.
Georgia, there is less than 1 hour left to vote in today’s primary election. If you are still in line by 7 PM, stay in line. Your voice matters. Your vote matters.

Voters can use several forms of acceptable ID, including a Georgia driver’s license, state ID card, U.S. passport, military ID, tribal ID, or voter identification card. Don’t let confusion or misinformation stop you from participating in our democracy!
Voting is more than a right — it’s a responsibility and an opportunity to shape the future of our communities, our families, and the next generation. Educate yourself, encourage someone else to vote, and make your voice heard tomorrow. 🗳️🇺🇸

Pride. Gratitude. Nostalgia. Excitement. And if I’m being perfectly honest… a little (sometimes a lot of) sadness too.
This is my middle child, my second son, so this is not my first time watching one of my children graduate from high school. And somehow, that makes the passage of time feel even more real. You would think the second time around makes it easier…but in many ways, you become even more aware of how quickly childhood gives way to adulthood.
I mean one moment you are packing lunches, fussing about missing assignments and messy rooms, and helping with homework. Then suddenly, you are watching them prepare to step into adulthood with their own voice, their own dreams, and their own path ahead.
I am so incredibly proud of the young man my son has become — thoughtful, resilient, kind, curious, and grounded in the values that matter most.
This past weekend was about his accomplishment but it was also about possibility, About one chapter closing and another beginning as he heads off to college — a journey that will bring new lessons, new growth, and new opportunities just waiting to be discovered.
To Nathaniel: never lose sight of who you are. Carry your integrity with you. Treat people well. Stay open to learning. And know that no matter how big this world gets, there will always be a place where you are loved, supported, and cheered on unconditionally.
What a gift it is to be your mother. 🎓❤️

I’ve never been the one to say “we don’t have the votes” and stop there. I do the work anyway — building relationships, finding common ground, and pushing ideas forward until they become results. That’s what leadership requires.
So imagine what I can do with even more trust, more opportunity, and a stronger mandate to lead. Imagine what’s possible when I’m fully empowered to govern and deliver for the people I serve.
I’m ready to do the work — not someday, but now.

Who gets heard.
Whose communities stay intact.
Whose votes carry power.
And ultimately… who government believes it is accountable to.
For the third time since 2021, the majority party in the Georgia General Assembly will be redrawing district lines now that Governor Kemp has called for a special session beginning June 17th.
The maps drawn in this process will not just shape elections. They will shape political power, public policy, and representation for years to come.
This moment is another reminder that democracy is not guaranteed by tradition alone. It depends on participation, vigilance, and the courage to stay engaged even when the process feels frustrating or predetermined. And, it requires a willingness to tell the truth about what is happening in plain sight.
Langston Hughes once wrote:
“O, yes, I say it plain,
America never was America to me,
And yet I swear this oath—America will be!”
That tension — between what this country has been and what it has the capacity to become — is part of the unfolding American story.
Georgia has always stood at the center of the struggle for representation, voice, and democracy. And once again, we are being reminded that fair representation does not defend itself.
People, pay attention. Ask questions. Speak up. And know that I’ll be fighting for fair representation and our voting rights under the Gold Dome.
Because the map is never neutral. And it is never just a map.

Today, we celebrate the strength, love, sacrifice, and wisdom that great mothers bring to our families, communities, and future generations every single day. Your impact is truly immeasurable, and Georgia is stronger because of you.
Thank you for all that you do and all that you are. Wishing you a beautiful day filled with the love you so deeply deserve. ❤️ Tag a Mother!
